East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals serving a local population of around 720,500 people.
We have a national and international reputation for delivering high quality specialist care, particularly in cancer, kidney disease, stroke and vascular services.
As a teaching Trust we play a vital role in the education and training of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, working closely with local universities and Kings College University in London.
R&D: Research is a core commitment of EKHUFT and the programme is growing year on year. Our Annual report 2010-11 will demonstrate this.
Medical Physics: The department provides a wide range of engineering and scientific services for the patients and wider community. A key area of activity is in Clinical and Rehabilitation Engineering where scientists and engineers work with other health care professionals as members of a multidisciplinary team. These activities focus on specialised seating, specialised powered chair control and Communication and Assistive technology [ACATS]. A major goal is to provide integrated solutions to patients with multiple and severe disabilities so that their various technological needs can be coordinated and provided at a single point of contact.
Neurorehab Unit: This in-patient & out patient based specialist service is led by EU accredited Consultant in Neurorehab. We pursue a diverse research programme with national & International collaboration.
